At NASHCON last May, Baxter cornered me and asked if I would resume my duties as newsletter editor. I said yes, but only as an interim until a more permanent editor could be found. So this is the system that the guys have come up with.
Let me explain some of what happened with the Dispatch. Our previous newsletter editor finished graduate school, found himself a job out of state, and then moved out of state; all without finding a replacement or in any way insuring continuity in the newsletter. On top of that, our president resigned so we were both rudderless and incommunicado. To top this all off, the people who had been printing (and mailing) the newsletter sold off the printing part of their business.
Trying to update the membership list and rectify all the other problems has been difficult but has been proceeding apace. I am told by Mike Peccolo that Neel Woodall is preparing a hard copy mailing of the Membership Catalog. Our new president is now Bob Duncan and the newsletter is being presented in this Blog.
If you have internet access (which you obviously do), check out the site (below) for the new upcoming German-made movie about Baron von Richthofen. The CGI scenes of aerial combat are awesome.
For those who do not know, some new efforts are happening up in Nashville. It is true that Baxter Key of FAA and Lord Al's has bought out Wargames Inc. of Tridelphia, WV. He received 8 tons of lead and books and Ed in the deal as well. So Baxter is now Johnson Hood Jr :-D. Baxter has our best wishes in this endeavor.
Though I may try to put in an occasional word, this is my Swan Song as editor if the Dispatch. The last 18 years have been quite a ride and I am thankful to all those who helped. I hope the new editorial committee formed to take my place will have as much fun with the Dispatch as I have had. Godspeed to all of you.
